Summary: A romance, contemporary and historical, in five parts, on the occasion of Valentine's Day.
It has been a long day and Sho is ready to have work over with and get to the relaxation part. He doesn't even remember what magazine they are interviewing for anymore. He's grateful, though, that the last photoshoot was at a traditional inn far south of the city, and the magazine is putting them up for the night. He tries to focus on the questions again.
The interviewer is annoying and also unusually intrusive and although Sho expects the interview to be ending, it is not. The interview is for a Valentine's Day issue; of course all the questions have been about love, and Sho wonders how many hundreds of times they have answered them already in their careers. He tunes back in as something does not match the script he is expecting. He can feel Jun tensing next to him and Sho rests a discreet hand on Jun's thigh under the table.
"… And not everything has gone easily for Arashi's hearts in ten years. There have been various affairs…"
Jun lurches forward out of a slumping lounge; his voice is strident and aggressive. "Who has anyone been unfaithful to, for you to call things 'affairs'?"
The interviewer is either remarkably brave or remarkably stupid, turning to face Jun fully and addressing him without apparent concern. "Matsumoto-san has had more discretion with his attachments. What techniques do you use to manage your career and your love life?"
Sho leans forward, casting around mentally for a distraction, his hand tight on Jun's thigh. He can see Nino's face across the table; the little bastard is anticipating blood. Just as Sho is about to blurt out something, anything, Ohno leans forward into the interviewer's line of sight and abruptly gives his first unsolicited comment of the night.
"Jun-kun has a very constant heart."
The interviewer looks interested and makes a questioning noise at Ohno. Sho has no idea what Ohno will say next, but he thinks a meteorite strike would probably be a blessing at this moment: less of a disaster.
"His heart has never wavered for ten years." Ohno is wearing is a secret, happy smile. "His only love affair has been with Arashi."
Sho can feel Jun's thigh relaxing under his hand. The tension drains out of the group; everyone relaxes a little. The interviewer takes a breath to go on, but Aiba cuts in with, "Wait, then maybe if we had affairs our unfaithfulness was –"
Nino is standing on his feet and bowing. "Ok! Thanks for your hard work, everyone! It's a busy day tomorrow! The members should sleep early! Thank you!" One hand on Aiba's elbow, he somehow manages to herd them all out of the room, answering the interviewer's startled thanks and bows and keeping everyone moving. Sho smiles at Nino's always-impeccable timing, and at the small, happy smile Ohno still wears.
Ohno is thinking of their 'affairs.' Jun had insisted that Ohno speak to both Aiba and Nino after the fact, "as Leader," and Ohno remembers the conversations vividly. Aiba had been sad and embarrassed and terribly, terribly frightened that he would be banished to the professional limbo of hiatus – or worse. Ohno secretly feared the same, but he made promises to Aiba on behalf of Arashi and the fans, who all came through for them. Ohno is still grateful.
Nino had been more difficult, particularly the second time: Ohno read his emotions as regret and deep sadness edging a fury that was almost violent. It had taken a long time, hours of Nino alternately pounding his Game Boy Advance and ranting about the unreliability of girls, but finally Nino had said, despairingly, "Sometimes, don't you just want to touch someone softly?" and Ohno had understood. OhMiya SK kept performing in concerts after that, Ohno had eventually stopped slapping Nino's hands away, and in the interim there was that interview about Uzbekistan.
Sho's brush with scandal had thankfully been a non-event, due largely to the timely and heavy-handed intervention of both the company and Sho's family. Ohno knew the necessity of relying on either of these sources had bothered Sho, and Ohno tried to give him extra attention after the fact. They have still never discussed it.
Ohno also knows that after his own scandal broke Jun pressured Sho, as next eldest and therefore next most responsible (this makes Ohno smile even now) into having some sort of talk with Ohno. Sho had entered the Music Lovers dressing room looking uncomfortable and unhappy after everyone else had gone. He only got as far as "Satoshi –" when Ohno cut him off.
"Jun sent you?"
Sho nodded and sat next to Ohno; Ohno smiled a little, thinking about Jun and the group and Nino filming a major TV interview that morning in a garment that could only be called a dress. "It's Ok," Ohno had said. "Nino got to me first."
Sho looked confused but relieved, and they sat together for a while, knees bumping. Ohno had thought of the others that morning, singing and dancing together and smiling at him, their love and support almost physically tangible on his skin; it had felt like he was swimming.
He looks up from his contemplations at Aiba, who happens to be closest. "Want to go out to the baths?"
Aiba sits on the stool and scrubs his hair and thinks about love questions and interviews and Ohno and his group. He likes how they work together now, without the need to discuss most things, but he doesn't know how he could explain this to anyone else. Maybe, he thinks, maybe it's like stones that wear grooves in each other. Or… Aiba rinses the soap from his hair and thinks of Nino's fingers. Nino, he thinks, Nino's sharp bits poked holes in our overinflated egos. And MatsuJun's abrasive exterior wears down sharp edges. And Ohno's flow polishes us, and Sho is solid underneath us and keeps us from wearing away completely.
Aiba likes this idea. As he soaps his feet, he wonders, What do I do?, and the thought leaves him with that slightly useless feeling he hates. But then he remembers Jun's interview on Shonen Club Premium, and Aiba smiles again because his smile makes everything bright.
When he and Ohno get back to their room Aiba is still smiling, and he smiles while he looks for the Valentine's present he got for everyone. As he rifles his bag, through the open door he can see Nino and MatsuJun sitting on the bare boards of the porch, looking at the garden and smoking. They're beautiful, Aiba thinks, and smiles some more.
Nino is smiling, too, smoking cheap cigarettes and thinking of early days. He gets a smug little glow of affection and satisfaction, now, at how far Johnny's cobbled-together group of problems has managed to go. No one ever said it, but Nino is sure that they are together only because the Boss didn't know what else to do with any of them. They have been given all sorts of unheard-of leeway and unique opportunities because there was no plan for the group, no pre-engineered image, no carefully prepped projects. No one had known what to do with them; Arashi was born to prevent the company from losing talent it wasn't sure how to exploit.
Sho and Ohno and Nino were all ready to quit entirely, back then, ready to pursue other dreams. Sho's unique skills and early promise would have been lost to University; Nino planned to try his luck backstage; and Ohno… Nino laughs. Ohno's personality and abundance of untapped talent would have made him a totally lackluster convenience store clerk. Aiba had never intended to be an entertainer in the first place and showed only the most basic aptitude for singing or dancing or tumbling and none at all for acting. He'd had always been a bright, sparkling personality, though, intelligent and willing, and clearly would be beautiful as he got older. And then there was Jun.
Nino pulls his knees up under his chin and turns his head to look at Jun. He clearly remembers Jun's positively adorable smile and unmatchable earnestness. Jun had been smart, too, and unfailingly polite, and disturbingly driven for his age; Nino had picked on him immediately. Nino rests his cheek on his knees, still watching Jun's profile. Probably no one had ever believed Jun would be able to mesh with a group, and in some ways Jun hasn't; he has definitely been the most dynamic personality of them all over the years, and never quite lost the last of his reserve. But Nino smiles again as he stubs out his cigarette, because Nino understands Jun better now.
Jun meets Nino's eyes for a long minute, finally closing them to take a long drag on his own, more expensive, cigarette. When he opens them again he is looking out at the garden. Nino gets to his feet and says, "I hate it when Aiba's right, you know? It really pisses me off."
Nino's hand brushes Jun's shoulder as he slips past to go in. Jun doesn't even try to work out if Nino's "Sorry, Jun-kun," is for brushing against him or all the staring or Aiba's version of infidelity or something else entirely; Nino has always been complicated but Jun knows now that the feeling is the same no matter what the details are about.
Nino slips away, and Jun is just finishing his last cigarette when he hears Aiba call from inside, "Oi, Muttsun, hurry and come in and close the door! It's cold; you'll get sick!"
Jun stubs out the butt and gets up, but when he gets to the doorway he has to laugh. Nino is just settling down next to Ohno in the middle of a sea of futons, bumping Ohno's knee and tilting his head at the others. Sho is standing next to the bags, brushing his teeth using bottled water and Aiba's toothpaste. Aiba is next to him, hair still dripping, towel slipping around his hips, brandishing a box of condoms in one hand and a tube of lube in the other (Jun is pleased to note that neither are the cheap kind).
Jun thinks, fondly, exasperatedly, that if it were a bunch of mannequins acting out the scene he would still know exactly who they were supposed to be.
Aiba is saying, "…But Sho-kun, you know –"
"No! Just because, that one time in Australia, you think –"
"But it's Valentine's Day! My present from me!"
"What about chocolates?!"
Jun works his way around the pile of electronics that seems to follow them everywhere (Sho's laptop and video camera, Nino's PSP, five cell phones and MP3 players, assorted cord-y miscellany) and snatches the towel from around Aiba's shoulders. "Who's going to get sick?" he snaps, affectionately, and attacks Aiba's wet head. Aiba drops box and tube to make a fruitless grab for the towel, and eventually they wind up tangled up on the futons, Nino pinning a pouting Aiba while Jun finishes drying his hair.
Eventually quiet is restored and Sho turns out the lights. Ohno rearranged the futons into roughly a large square, so they are lying tangled together in just the sort of haphazard mess Jun likes best. He is stretched on his side, head against Nino's stomach, upper arm draped across Sho's shoulder, Ohno's back curled against his own. Aiba's head is on Sho's stomach, and Nino is twisted like a comma above them, Ohno's head on his bicep.
Jun thinks everyone else is asleep already, he is about to fall asleep himself, when he feels Ohno shifting around behind him. Ohno spoons up against Jun's back and slips his arm over Jun's waist, and the back of Jun's neck prickles where Ohno's warm breath brushes him. He breathes, "Leader?" and feels Ohno's lips against his skin in response. Nino makes a soft questioning sound above them and starts shifting around too, but Jun is too busy trying to make it easier for Ohno to get his hand in Jun's pants to worry about what Nino is doing. All the shuffling wakes Aiba almost immediately. Aiba wakes Sho to ask what is going on, and Jun gets hazy on the details, but he thinks it goes something like:
Nino twists so he can kiss Ohno while Ohno takes a direct line for Jun's cock. Jun leans forward to kiss Nino's thigh where it comes between Jun and Sho, who leans down to kiss Aiba – it's easier than explaining. Once Aiba has the idea, Sho reaches up to stroke Nino and Aiba gets into Sho's shorts and Ohno rubs against Jun's ass.
Some of the angles are a little awkward, but they know each other well and so the whole thing takes less than ten minutes. Sho goes first, Ohno goes last, and Nino goes to find Aiba's discarded towel. When he comes back, he looks at all the sticky hands and says, "Junnosuke, close your eyes," and wipes a smear of come on Jun's bottom lip.
"Whose?" Nino asks. And Jun knows. Aiba wants to try, too, but doesn't know. Sho, of course, knows them all, and Ohno keeps his eyes open. While they are all laughing, Jun discretely tosses the lube and condoms in his own bag; maybe they can give them back to Aiba for White Day.

I really really loved this, because it feels right somehow . . .
Also, Ohno as instigator is perfect . . . because we both know that Jun isn't going to say no to Ohno any time soon^^"
Ohno's comment about Jun's constant heart&hearts!
I definitely think Aiba should be gifted on White Day ^_^

And then, of course, there was porn. And for that, you should win many many internets (and hopefully many votes in the poll). ^__^

Of course I agree to Arashi's origin and the inner thoughs of Aiba, I dont remember who was, but one of the members said that Aiba has a great emotional intelligence.
I just would like to know why Nino teases him constantly; in one of the Shukudai-kun shows the sound of baka, baka, baka, sumimasen, sumimasen, sumimasen, seemed the sound track of the episode, lol, hope you understand my weird english ^_^
Great work and thank you for sharing, I'm going to search for more of your fics.
